Secret Sauce is an Australian-based IP investment firm. We acquire exclusive rights to the intellectual assets of Australian corporations (our IP Partners) and generate revenue through licensing the assets to companies in other markets or by creating new start-up companies.
We focus on intellectual assets that have been developed by corporations for internal use, such as in-house software developments, improved business and technical processes, valuable proprietary data, and copyrighted media.
We deliberately target re-use of assets developed internally by corporations because:
There’s a proven need for the asset, since it was created to solve a real business problem
The asset has already been developed and deployed inside an organisation
There is already a use-case, return on investment calculation and a reference customer.

We have backgrounds from technology start-ups, corporate IT, technology research labs, sales & marketing, technical development and venture capital. We utilise a broad international network of experts in different industries and technologies to help us find a path to market for our asset portfolio.

Steve has over 15 years of experience in extracting value from intellectual property. Steve established and grew Offspring Ventures, a successful technology commercialisation company owned by an ASX-listed company, has led three start-up IT companies, raised over $10M of venture capital and government grants for technology ventures, and licensed and sold intellectual property rights internationally. Previously, Steve led commercialisation deals at Telstra Corporation and implemented major corporate IT projects. Steve is a member of the IT&T Committee for the Federal Government’s Innovation Australia Board, which is responsible for the allocation of the $200M Commercial Ready grant program. Steve is also a member of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
